From Roddy Ricch to Doja Cat, here's every popular song that's gone viral on TikTok in 2020, including the original creators of the dance challenges.
With TikTok getting more and more popular, it's only a matter of time before the social media platform takes over completely.
Like Vine before it, we've already seen teenagers become huge internet celebrities thanks to their dance videos, challenges, sketches and impressive content on the app, but TikTok has now proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with thanks to its ability to make a viral hit soar up the charts.

Following the success of Lil Nas X's monster hit 'Old Town Road', TikTok's impact has since seen multiple tracks, including Roddy Ricch's 'The Box', reach the top of the charts.
From up and coming artists like Doja Cat and Roddy Ricch to throwback tracks from Mariah Carey and Kesha, TikTok has the power to create a hit and bring old hits back into the charts.
Here's all the popular 2020 TikTok songs and who created the dances:
Viral TikTok songs from trends or memes:

The "I'm sorry for drippin', but drip is what I do" song took off amongst TikTokers showing off their outfits.

Hip Hop Harry went viral on TikTok in 2020 thanks to the popular Stanky Leg routine, which was inspired by cast member then-9-year-old Jake Deanda. He even recreated the dance as an adult after he was turned into a meme.
The actual TikTok trend sees people doing the same Stanky Leg move and cutting to a different location throughout the video.

KBFR - 'Hood Baby'

L'Trimm - 'Cars That Go Boom'
There's a couple of variations on this routine, with Charli D'Amelio, Addison Rae and Millie Bobby Brown all sharing their own dances.

Megan Thee Stallion - 'Savage'
The 'Savage' dance was created by Keara Wilson. A few days after circulating on TikTok. Megan herself then reposted the dance on her Instagram account and the rest is history. Charli D'Amelio picked it up and Normani took it on too.
Megan Thee Stallion - 'Captain Hook'
Unlike the 'Savage' challenge, Megan created the 'Captain Hook' challenge herself. Originally posted on her Triller account, 'Captain Hook' soon took off on Tiktok after Megan used the hashtag #CaptainHookChallenge.
The Weeknd - 'Blinding Lights'
To do the 'Blinding Lights' dance challenge, you need two other willing participants and whole lot of energy. The trend has become a favourite on TikTok during quarantine, with teens roping in their parents for hilarious recreations of the dance routine.
According to Know Your Meme, the first TikTok user to upload the routine was @gregdahl7 in March 2020. As of April 2020, the challenge's hashtag had been viewed over 105 million times.
Drake - 'Tootsie Slide'
In an attempt to recreate his viral fame with the 'In My Feelings' challenge, Drake released a song in the middle of quarantine that literally spells out a brand new TikTok dance. In the video, which was recorded inside his huge newly-built mansion, he even performs the dance, but there are multiple variations of it now circulating TikTok.
So far, the hashtag #TootsieSlide has 89.5m views but big TikTok names like Charli D'Amelio and Addison Rae have yet to try it out.
Doja Cat - 'Like That'
After the success of 'Say So', many TikTok users have tried to come up with their own moves for their 'Like That' dance in the hope of going viral. However, it appears Charli D'Amelio's routine is the most universal. Her routine currently has almost 5 million likes on the platform.
Lil Mosey - 'Blueberry Faygo'
This TikTok dance is one that's done frequently by the big Hype House players (Addison Rae in particular, who also stars in the official music video) and has become a favourite on the app. Love Island stars Siânnise and Luke T also attempted the dance.
Bene - 'Supalonely' ft. Gus Dapperton
This dance was created by Zoi Lerma (@zoifishh) back in February and was quickly sent viral after Emma Chamberlain and Charli D'Amelio shared their own versions to their millions of fans. The song has seen massive success since going viral on TikTok.
Arizona Zervas - 'Roxanne'
There's several different versions of the 'Roxanne' dance on TikTok, with multiple members of the Hype House uploading different versions.
Y2K & bbno$ - 'LaLaLa'
This sound starts off with the spoken word sample: 'Did I really just forget that melody' Then, it descends into another TikTok viral challenge. Instead of dancing, this song is used on the Hand Emoji challenge.
Users have to match the shapes of hand emojis on screen in time to the beat of the song without missing a move.
K Camp - 'Lottery'
The 'Renegade challenge' swept TikTok in January 2020. The dance, which has around 15 complex moves is set to a short section of K Camp's 'Lottery' where the word "renegade" is repeated several times. (Duh!) The dance was created by 14-year-old Jalaiah Harmon (@jalaiahharmon) on Instagram back in September 2019 before it was picked up on TikTok.
It went viral but Jalaiah's name didn't go with it. Instead, stars like Charli D'Amelio and Addison Rae (along with the rest of the Hype House) were known for doing it. Celebrities soon followed suit with Lizzo, Millie Bobby Brown and James Charles all performing the dance on their accounts.
Jalaiah finally got the recognition she deserved, later performing at the NBA All-Star game and on Ellen.
Roddy Ricch - 'The Box'
While 'The Box' has been used as a track for certain TikTok dances, it's been the meme videos that boosted the popularity of the song on the platform.
Back in December 2019, TikToker @jaywill4real uploaded a video of himself cleaning a mirror set to the tune of 'The Box' alongside the caption "This how Roddy Ricch made The Box". Other TikTokers followed suit with similar videos, sending the song viral.
Roddy Ricch later beat out Justin Bieber's 'Yummy' to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, following Justin's, shall we say interesting, promotional campaign. Similar to Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road', the success of 'The Box' proves the power of TikTok and its influence on the charts.
Doja Cat - 'Say So'
The 'Say So' dance was created by TikToker Haley Sharpe (@yodelinghaley), who later went on to appear in Doja Cat's music video for the song.
Haley first uploaded the video in several different parts back in December 2019, before uploading the full dance. The routine was then picked up by huge TikTok and YouTube stars like James Charles, Emma Chamberlain and Charli D'Amelio, whose video garnered 5.2 million likes.
Following the success of Haley's initial dance, she later created a full routine to the song which you can find right here.
Ke$ha - 'Cannibal'
For some reason, the TikTokers have commandeered Kesha's 2010 track 'Cannibal' and have turned it into a TikTok dance challenge.
Created by @ya.girl.bri.bri97, there's 14 moves in the routine which is set to a short clip of the song, which starts after Kesha sing "I'll eat you up" at the end of the chorus. The final lyric in the clip ("Use your finger to stir my tea, and for dessert I'll suck your teeth") is also used on the app to get a reaction out of parents.
Dua Lipa - 'Don't Start Now'
Thanks to the opening lyrics of the song ("Did a full 180"), Dua Lipa's 'Don't Start Now' has inspired a new meme on TikTok that people are using to avoid things.
According to KnowYourMeme, the "Full 180" meme started in January 2020 after TikToker @isaac_tuazon posted a video of himself at the mall, before turning around and running the other way after seeing someone from school you don't want to talk to. The meme then evolved and now it's one of the most popular tracks on TikTok.
Todrick Hall - 'Attention'
This dance challenge is for the professional dancers only. The routine involves flips, splits, high kicks... it's not for the faint hearted. There's no specific routine for this one but as long as you have your "kick into a split" then you're fine.
TikTokers like Charli D'Amelio, Addison Rae, Avani, Lexi Rivera, Zoey Aune, Taylor Nunez and Tre Clements (to name a few) have all posted their own interpretation of the viral dance.
JACKBOYS feat. Young Thug - 'OUT WEST'
The Out West dance challenge was created by Nicole Bloomgarden (@nicolebloomgarden). Much like Jalaiah Harmon, Nicole wasn't initially credited and several members of the Hype House were seen performing the routine at the NBA All-Star game.
Ashnikko - 'Working Bitch'
Ashnikko's 'Working Bitch' track has gone viral on TikTok thanks to a series of meme sketches.
2019 Viral TikTok songs
TikTok really started taking off in 2019 and as a result, several songs went viral because of the dances, challenges and memes that used the tracks in the videos. Here are the tracks from 2019 that took off on the platform:
Lil Nas X - 'Old Town Road'
Arguably the biggest song to go viral on TikTok and later achieve worldwide acclaim. The 'Old Town Road' challenge, which was known as the "Yeehaw Challenge" at the time, started at the beginning of 2019.
Blanco Brown - 'The Git Up'
The fusion between hip hop and country music proved popular again as Blanco Brown's track 'The Git Up' went viral thanks to a dance routine. There's actually two different dances to the song: Blanco's original and the other version created by Harvey Bass (@harveybass), which inspired the #gitupchallenge on social media.
Ciara - 'Get Up'
Ciara's energetic 2006 bop was immortalised in TikTok dance lore back in December 2019 thanks to popular videos from Charli D'Amelio, Addison Rae and the iconic rendition from @treclements.
Mariah Carey - 'Obsessed'
Following a video of TikToker @reesehardy crying while dancing to Mariah Carey's 2009 song, the track and dance went viral with millions of users using Reese's routine in their own videos.
Doja Cat - 'Candy'
Before the 'Say So' dance, Doja Cat had another TikTok hit with 'Candy'. Created by Talia Levinger, the dance has been replicated by Charli D'Amelio and Sarah Magusara.
KRYPTO9095 FT. D3MSTREET - 'WOAH'
While the 'woah' dance move was around long before TikTok, KRYPTO9095's viral song on the platform has brought it to new generation of creators. The Fader reports that the 'woah' has seen multiple variations over the years.
